I chose to have the gastric sleeve surgery and it was the best decision for me. I was nervous about doing this but after chatting with Dr. Carrera I felt better because she explained the process and answered every question I had. I flew into San Diego airport and was picked up by a super nice driver who was on time for my flight. He drove me to Tijuana and brought me to the hospital where checking in was easy. Things progressed quickly and soon I was headed for surgery. I spent the next couple of days at the hospital where they took good care of me. I was sore from the surgery, but I felt pretty good overall. After the few days the driver came and took me back to the airport. The next few weeks were hard as I could only drink very little at a time. As time went on it got much easier and adjusting to the new eating habits started to sink in. Very soon I started to notice the weigh dropping and I started feeling better mentally and physically. The Dr. contacted me every 2 weeks as well as the nutritionist and they made sure everything was all right. The support from them was outstanding and really helped me go through this transition as they kept me informed of what to expect and how to get the best results.
Overall, this was a great experience because of the support provided by everyone. I have since reduced my weight and now I am back within my recommended BMI range, and I feel 100% better. My health improved and my energy came back and now I feel like a new person, and I am not embarrassed to go out and try new things.
I would completely recommend working with Dr. Carrera. She has been totally honest and up front with me for this whole process. I am thankful for all the support.
